Managing your farm’s inventory in FarmRaise Tracks is simple and flexible, whether you're tracking live animals or processed meat products. Follow this guide to efficiently add, edit, and manage your livestock and butchered products.
1. Getting Started with Inventory Tracking
Navigate to Inventory:
From the home screen, go to the Inventory section.
What Can You Track?
Live Animals – Track individual livestock using tag numbers.
Butchered Products – Log processed meat by weight, type, and storage location.
Crops - These have been harvested or are currently growing in the field.
2. Adding Livestock to Inventory
To add individual animals:
Click "Add" in the Inventory section.
Enter Inventory Name (e.g., Tag Number 562).
Select Inventory Type:
Livestock – For live animals.
Product – If the animal has been butchered.
Set Location (e.g., “Pasture 80” or “Feedlot”).
Enter Quantity (usually 1 for individual animals).
Input Purchase Price (optional for tracking costs).
Click "Save" to add the animal to your inventory.
💡 Tip: Repeat this process for each animal to keep individual records updated.
3. Tracking Butchered Animals and Meat Products
When an animal is butchered, follow these steps to track the resulting products:
Add the Butchered Animal:
Go to Add in Inventory.
Use the Tag Number as the inventory name (e.g., Tag 68).
Select Product as the inventory type.
Set the Storage Location (e.g., “Freezer #2”).
Enter the Total Pounds of Meat received (e.g., 470 lbs).
Add the Market Price Per Pound (e.g., $5.90/lb).
Click Save.
Detail the Meat Breakdown (Optional):
Edit the inventory to add notes on specific cuts (e.g., ground beef, steaks, roasts, ribs, tongue, tallow).
Track specific quantities for each product type if desired.
4. Managing Inventory Updates
For Live Animals:
Add Activity Logs – Record health checks, vaccinations, or movements.
Update Locations – Keep tabs on where animals are at any time.
Track Sales – Update quantities when animals are sold.
For Butchered Products:
Remove Quantity When Selling:
Select the product from Inventory.
Click Remove Quantity.
Enter the amount sold (e.g., 40 lbs of ground beef).
Add sale details (e.g., sold from "Freezer #2").
Click Save – the system updates your inventory automatically.
5. Pro Tips for Using Inventory Tracking
Organize by Storage Location – Makes it easy to manage what’s in each freezer or storage unit.
Use Notes for Cut Details – Helps track which cuts are available and their market value.
Monitor Inventory in Real-Time – As you add or sell products, your inventory stays up-to-date.
