How to Take a Screenshot on a Google Pixel

Method 1: Using the Power and Volume Down Buttons

  1. Locate the Buttons

    • Identify the Power button on the right side of your Google Pixel phone.

    • Identify the Volume Down button below the Power button.

  2. Press the Buttons Simultaneously

    • Quickly press and release the Power button and the Volume Down button at the same time.

    • The screen will flash, and you will hear a camera shutter sound if your sound is enabled.

  3. View and Edit the Screenshot

    • A toolbar will appear at the bottom of the screen, allowing you to edit, share, or delete the screenshot.

    • If you do nothing, the screenshot will be saved to your Photos app.

Method 2: Using the Recent Apps Screen

  1. Open the Recent Apps Screen

    • Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause, or press the square Recent Apps button if using traditional navigation buttons.

  2. Select the App to Capture

    • Find the app whose screen you want to capture.

  3. Take the Screenshot

    • Tap the Screenshot button at the bottom of the app preview.

  4. View and Edit the Screenshot

    • A toolbar will appear at the bottom of the screen, allowing you to edit, share, or delete the screenshot.

    • If you do nothing, the screenshot will be saved to your Photos app.

Method 3: Using Google Assistant

  1. Activate Google Assistant

    • Say "Hey Google" or "OK Google," or press and hold the Home button.

  2. Ask Google Assistant to Take a Screenshot

    • Say, "Take a screenshot."

    • The screen will flash, and you will hear a camera shutter sound if your sound is enabled.

  3. View and Edit the Screenshot

    • A toolbar will appear at the bottom of the screen, allowing you to edit, share, or delete the screenshot.

    • If you do nothing, the screenshot will be saved to your Photos app.

Method 4: Using Quick Settings (Android 11 and Later)

  1. Open Quick Settings

    • Swipe down from the top of the screen twice to fully expand the Quick Settings menu.

  2. Find and Tap the Screenshot Icon

    • If the Screenshot icon is not visible, tap the pencil icon to edit the Quick Settings menu and add the Screenshot icon.

  3. Take the Screenshot

    • Tap the Screenshot icon.

    • The screen will flash, and you will hear a camera shutter sound if your sound is enabled.

  4. View and Edit the Screenshot

    • A toolbar will appear at the bottom of the screen, allowing you to edit, share, or delete the screenshot.

    • If you do nothing, the screenshot will be saved to your Photos app.
