How to Take a Screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy

Method 1: Using the Power and Volume Down Buttons

  1. Locate the Buttons

    • Identify the Power button on the right side of your Samsung Galaxy phone.

    • Identify the Volume Down button on the left side of your phone.

  2. Press the Buttons Simultaneously

    • Quickly press and release the Power button and the Volume Down button at the same time.

    • The screen will flash, and you will hear a camera shutter sound if your sound is enabled.

  3. View and Edit the Screenshot

    • A toolbar will appear at the bottom of the screen, allowing you to edit, share, or delete the screenshot.

    • If you do nothing, the screenshot will be saved to your Gallery app.

Method 2: Using Palm Swipe to Capture

  1. Enable Palm Swipe to Capture

    • Go to Settings > Advanced Features > Motions and Gestures.

    • Toggle Palm swipe to capture to On.

  2. Take a Screenshot with Palm Swipe

    • Place the side of your hand vertically on either edge of the screen.

    • Swipe your hand across the screen from one side to the other.

    • The screen will flash, and you will hear a camera shutter sound if your sound is enabled.

  3. View and Edit the Screenshot

    • A toolbar will appear at the bottom of the screen, allowing you to edit, share, or delete the screenshot.

    • If you do nothing, the screenshot will be saved to your Gallery app.

Method 3: Using the Edge Panel

  1. Enable the Edge Panel

    • Go to Settings > Display > Edge Screen.

    • Toggle Edge Panels to On.

  2. Set Up the Smart Select Edge Panel

    • Open the Edge Panel by swiping from the side of the screen.

    • Tap the Settings icon at the bottom of the panel.

    • Select Smart Select from the available panels.

  3. Take a Screenshot with the Edge Panel

    • Open the Edge Panel and select Smart Select.

    • Choose the shape of the screenshot you want to capture (Rectangle, Oval, or Animation).

    • Drag to select the area you want to capture.

    • Tap Done to capture the screenshot.

  4. View and Edit the Screenshot

    • A toolbar will appear at the bottom of the screen, allowing you to edit, share, or delete the screenshot.

    • If you do nothing, the screenshot will be saved to your Gallery app.

Method 4: Using Bixby Voice

  1. Activate Bixby Voice

    • Press and hold the Bixby button or say "Hi Bixby" if enabled.

  2. Ask Bixby to Take a Screenshot

    • Say, "Take a screenshot."

    • The screen will flash, and you will hear a camera shutter sound if your sound is enabled.

  3. View and Edit the Screenshot

    • A toolbar will appear at the bottom of the screen, allowing you to edit, share, or delete the screenshot.

    • If you do nothing, the screenshot will be saved to your Gallery app.
