Add, Select, and Manage Fields for a Farm on Your Program Application

Learn how to add fields, set field locations, answer questions for one or multiple fields, and upload documents that apply across several fields to complete your farm program application more efficiently.

Written by Isabelle Talkington

Many programs require you to provide information about the specific fields included in your application. Before you can answer field-level questions, you'll need to add and name your fields in FarmRaise.

Adding Your Fields

  1. From your dashboard, find the Farm, Tract, and Field section

  2. Click to expand the section if needed

  3. Click Select Fields -- it will show that no fields have been added yet

  4. Enter the name you commonly use to refer to each field (for example: "Home Field," "Loon," "Red Barn")

  5. Add one field name at a time

  6. Repeat until all of your fields have been added

Setting a Field Location

Once your fields are created, you can submit a location for each one. You can find your farm, tract, and field location information on your FSA documents.

  1. Click Start next to the field you want to set a location for

  2. Check the breadcrumb trail in the top left to confirm which field you're working on

  3. To set the location, either:

    • Type in a field address, or

    • Switch to Map or Satellite view and drag and drop the pin to your field's location

    • Double-click to zoom in, and click and drag to move around the map

  4. Once the pin is in the right place, click Submit

  5. Repeat for each remaining field

Answering Questions for Multiple Fields at Once

If the same answer applies to more than one field, you can save time by selecting multiple fields before submitting.

  1. Select the fields you want to answer for by checking the boxes next to each field name

  2. Or click Select All to include every field

  3. Answer the question once and click Submit -- your answer will apply to all selected fields

Important: Only use Select All when the answer is truly the same for every field. For example, FSA field numbers are unique to each field and should always be entered individually. If you accidentally submit the same answer for multiple fields, you can fix it using the Update button.

Uploading a Document That Covers Multiple Fields

If you have one document (such as an APH document) that covers several fields and don't want to upload it separately for each one:

  1. Select all of the fields the document applies to

  2. Upload the document once

  3. Click Submit -- the same document will be applied to each selected field
